MOSCOW, July 20 (Itar-Tass) - Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Mikhail Kamynin said on Friday that work on inspecting North Korean nuclear facilities proceeded smoothly, hailing Pyongyang’s teamwork with the International Atomic Energy Agency.
“As it was already stressed in one of our previous reports, inspection work proceeds smoothly and with good cooperation with the IAEA on the part of Pyongyang,” the Russian diplomat said.
“According to information of the IAEA Secretariat, a group of agency experts has confirmed that a five-megawatt experimental nuclear power plant in Yongbyon, a radio-chemical laboratory, a plant for making nuclear fuel and two more 50-megawatt and 200-megawatt power plants, the latter in Taechon, were shut down on July 14,” he said.
Kamynin said experts had sealed the facilities. “The installment of equipment necessary for control is expected to be finished within the next few weeks,” the top diplomat added.
