PYONGYANG, July 27 (Itar-Tass) - North Korea is marking the 54th anniversary since the end of the Korean War that lasted from 1950 through 1953 and ended with the signing of a truce agreement.
Authorities in this country traditionally call it the Patriotic Liberation War and say it was crowned with the victory of the Korean People's Army.
National flags of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, posters glorifying the revolutionary combat spirit and slogans urging to arm the entire nation and to turn the state into a fortress decorate the streets of North Korean cities since Wednesday night.
Since early morning, thousands of people are streaming to the statues and mosaics depicting this country's Eternal President Kim Il Sung whose leadership helped the Democratic People's Republic of Korea oppose the aggressors in the years of hardship, say the official historians,
Newspapers recall in this connection the wise strategy that the founder of the Korean socialist state designed to repel the aggression. It included the technicques like 'hunting for planes, snipers and tanks'.
The mass media also mention 'the unprecedented mass campaigns in support of the frontline' that Kim Il Sung organized.
Festive illumination that lit up Pyongyang's streets Thursday night testifies to the significance that the authorities attach to this anniversary.
